Bataan Gov. Garcia: Dev’t plan for Mt. Samat to immortalize heroism of veterans
Executive Secretary Salvador Medialdea led Monday the groundbreaking ceremony of a flagship program that aims to develop Mt. Samat in Pilar, Bataan into a tourism hub.
The ceremony for the Mt. Samat Flagship Enterprise Zone (MSFEZ) coincided with the 76th commemoration of the Araw ng Kagitingan or Day of Valor in Mt. Samat.
Also launched during the event was the logo of the MSFEZ.
Bataan Governor Albert S. Garcia, in his welcome remarks, said the project will “further immortalize the heroism and patriotism of our veterans.”
Part of the development plans for the MSFEZ include the construction of underground museum, cable cars and green transportation, Center for World War II Studies, and lighting of the cross, among others.
The MSFEZ is an initiative of the Department of Tourism (DOT), Tourism Infrastructure Zone Authority (TIEZA), Philippine Veterans Affairs Office, Municipality of Pilar and the Province of Bataan.
The development plan aims to encourage foreign and local investors to get involved in the tourism project. #
