Bataan Governor Raymond Garcia said that housing would be the number
one priority of the local government, as investments in the industrial
sectors begin to grow.

Garcia has vowed to look for an appropriate solution to the province’s
housing shortage problem.

One proposed project involves building housing facilities at the
Freeport Area of Bataan (FAB) in the town of Mariveles. According to

The provincial government has been in talks with realty estate owners
and housing developers from Central Luzon and Metro Manila for the
project, as it anticipates an influx of workers from other provinces
who are seeking stable employment in various manufacturing plants and
export–oriented industries.

Bataan is also looking for a private partner to develop a township
project near the FAB. It will include commercial areas and other
public utilities such as schools, public market, church, health center
and other amenities.

The province is also eyeing the construction of a central transport
terminal within the periphery of FAB and the operation of monorail or
rapid transport system in the country’s first export processing zone.
