Bataan Cong Roman raises red flag vs. reported misuse of Special Educ. Fund
Bataan lawmaker Geraldine Roman is not giving up on her intent to have the government’s Special Education Fund be looked into by Congress.
In a Facebook post last Thursday, Roman, who represents the 1st District of Bataan in Congress, sought to remind the public of the resolution she filed in October last year for the House Committee on Local Government to probe the utilization of the Special Education by Local School Boards.
This, she said, stemmed from a Commission on Audit report revealing several anomalies in the disbursement of the SEF by a number of local government units.
“The SEF is meant to be allocated to important programs and projects, such as the operation and maintenance of public schools, construction and repair of school buildings, purchase of books and materials, among other things,” the politiko said.
“It is therefore important to know if the SEF is being utilized properly,” she added.
Roman’s House Resolution No. 1420 remains pending at the Committee on Local Government.
“Education has always been one of my greatest passions. I believe that our Constitution requires the government to promote social progress through education,” Roman said.(END)
