Feb 13, 2019 @ 8:50

Bataan 1st District Representative Geraldine Roman praised Wednesday a project between the Department of Education and Project Saysay, Inc. that will saw the distribution in schools of posters carrying statements of notable Filipinos.

“I am very pleased with this new project of the Department of Education which develops nationalism by exposing Filipino children to, and regularly reminding them of our rich history by the use of quality posters that showcase statements of notable Filipinos,” Roman said on her Facebook page.

The politiko said patriotism and national pride should be instilled in the youth since they are “the future of our land,” and the “Constitution states that the State recognizes the vital role of the youth in nation-building.”

“One way to make our children feel love for, pride in, and attachment to our country is by making them knowledgeable and appreciative of the country’s history,” she said.

The project aims to distribute 21,000 posters to selected schools and institutions across the country, containing statements from national heroes, national artists, national scientists, noble statesmen, and outstanding educators.

Roman congratulated “those behind the project” and assured them that “our children, their families, their schools and our country will definitely benefit from this.”(END)
