Bataan 1st District Representative Geraldine Roman expressed gratitude for being recognized as the EcoWoman of the Year 2018 by Econest organization.

“I am extremely grateful and humbled,” the Central Luzon politiko said on her Facebook page.

“It is truly a big honor not only for me but also for my family and all my constituents in the First District of Bataan,” she added.

Roman returned the credit to Econest by hailing its sanitary landfill in Hermosa town for teaching women an alternative and decent means of livelihood.

It “is proof of its commitment” to advocacies of both the Econest and her’s in protecting environment and women’s children’s and LGBT rights, she said.

Roman said she supports Econest’s construction of the first-ever Shelter for Abused Women and Their Children in her district.

“This project touches my heart. Abused women should be given protection from further abuse – whether physical or emotional,” she said.

“They also deserve a second lease in life. Protection of the mothers means keeping their children safe from harm.”

A transgender, Roman says, “I believe in ‘beauty with a cause’.”

The lawmaker said she will treasure the award, which her mother, former Congresswoman Herminia Roman received on her behalf, “with all my heart.”
