Bataan Cong Roman asks DSWD to aid Red Tide victims
Bataan 1st District Geraldine Roman sought the help of the Department of Social Welfare and Development to extend aid to her constituents who were affected by last month’s Red Tide.
According to Roman’s Facebook page on Wednesday, the politiko coordinated with DSWD Region 3 for the distribution of food packs.
“To the victims, may you have a speedy recovery! My heart is with you!” Roman said in the Facebook post that also showed photos of the activity.
On Nov. 23, the regional office of the Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources advised the public to refrain from eating, gathering or harvesting, transporting and marketing shellfish from the coastal waters of Bataan and Pampanga due to the presence of Paralytic Shellfish Poison.
“Red Tide is not just harmful to humans, it imperils our precious marine life as well. This is why we must take good care of our environment,” Roman said.
“We cannot allow our fellow citizens and Bataan’s bustling marine life to be negatively impacted by human-instigated disasters,” she added.(END)
