Bataan Cong Garcia shines light on province’s valiant character on Foundation Day
Bataan 2nd District Representative Jose Enrique “Joet” Garcia III gave emphasis on the province’s character of valor and courage as it marked its 262nd Founding Anniversary on Friday.
“It is important that we never forget our own identity, character and origin,” the politiko said on his Facebook page.
“We should remain proud of our valiant and courageous history that should be passed on to our children,” he said.
Garcia said the province has come a long way from Jan. 11, 1757 when it was declared as a new and separate province from Pampanga.
Citing “Kagitingan” and heroism, which are what the province is best known for because of its role during the wartime, Garcia said the embodiment of both “is alive, although not in the Battle of War, but in the everyday Battle of Life of each and every Bataeno.”
Crediting fellow Bataan lawmaker Geraldine Roman from the province’s 1st District for the passage last year of Republic Act 11138 that declared every Jan. 11 as Special Non-Working Holiday in the entire province, Garcia noted that “for the first time in 262 years, we are formally celebrating the Foundation of Bataan as a Province.”
“With continued support from all stakeholders in striving for the 1Bataan Vision, we can leave a legacy and pass it on to the succeeding generations that we have achieved progress through unity and harmony,” he said.(END)
