Bataan Cong Garcia reminds constituents of Jan. 11 holiday in province
Bataan 2nd District Representative Jose Enrique “Joet” Garcia is reminding all residents of Bataan of the upcoming holiday in the province this Friday, Jan. 11.
Garcia shared on his Facebook page the law that President Rodrigo Duterte approved last year, declaring Jan. 11 of every year as a special non-working holiday in the entire province of Bataan.
Republic Act No. 11138, approved on Nov. 9, 2018, recognizes Jan. 11 as “Bataan Foundation Day.”
The holiday declaration would allow the people of Bataan to commemorate the province’s 262nd founding anniversary.
The province, according to its tourism office, will begin holding “exciting activities” on Jan. 9, with the sale of dairy and agricultural products, and a chorale and folk dance competition at the Bataan People’s Center in Balanga City.
On Jan. 10, a Bataan Historical Symposium will be facilitated in the
same venue by Dr. Cornelio Bascara.
The grand celebration will be held on Jan. 11 as the different municipalities take part in a street parade in Balanga, and street dancers perform at the Plaza Mayor de Balanga.
The Asian Philharmonic Orchestra will also perform at the Bataan People’s Center.(END)
