Baler Mayor Bihasa sets eyes on sports, too

Mayor Nelianto “Pilot” Bihasa is giving focus on sports as the new year opens, by sponsoring a free training for basketball and volleyball coaching and refereeing, and free airing of the upcoming Pacquiao boxing match.

The free training for basketball and volleyball coaching and referring was held on Jan. 5 and 6 at the Sentro Baler and AV Mijares Covered Court.

The trainers included Oscar Feliciano, the Ateneo Basketball School training coach and head coach of Police Commission Officer; Ogie Bernate, former PBA referee and PUP Sta. Mesa Sports Consultant; Roberto Celso, national referee, and head coach at UE Beach Volleyball and Centro Escolar University Women’s Team; Daniel Palada, national referee, and coach at Centro Escolar University Men’s Team and Hope Christian High School in Quezon City; and Fernando Velarde, head coach of EARIST Men’s Team, and of Maria Montessori Children School.

“The event was sponsored by Mayor Nelianto C. Bihasa as one of his priority programs for youth and sports enthusiasts,” the municipal government said on its Facebook page.

Meanwhile, the local politiko is also sponsoring a free viewing of the upcoming boxing match of Senator Manny Pacquiao against Adrien Broner on Jan. 20.

The live airing of the two boxers’ Welterweight World Championship will begin at 8 a.m., at the Sentro Baler, and via ICTV Channel 11.(END)
