Members of the Aurora Police Provincial Office underwent a whole-day inter-agency workshop and seminar on enhancing the government’s anti-drug campaign.
The event was held at the conference room of the Aurora Police Provincial Office in Barangay Sabang in Baler town earlier this month.
Led by Police Col. Myles Angel Pascual, police provincial director, the seminar was intended to strengthen the anti-drug campaign and to eradicate similar forms of illegal drug activities, according to a Philippine Information Agency report.
Expert lawyers from the provincial prosecution office of the Department of Justice headed by Provincial prosecutor Joebert Reyes graced the activity where participants were given lectures on effective warrantless search and arrest.
In the PIA report, Reyes commended Pascual for organizing the forum aimed at boosting the police capabilities on anti-illegal drugs campaign.
She also cited the important role of the media and barangay leaders during buy-bust operations which, he said, oftentimes result to dismissal of charges due to technicalities.
Assistant Provincial Prosecutor Phanie Rose Aragon-Saez delivered a lecture on issues and concerns of law enforcement regarding inquest with relevant and recent jurisprudence while Associate Provincial Prosecutors Cora Baccay-Barte and Angela Guzman-Bolos discussed the salient provisions of the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
“Sayang po kasi ang resources ng ating pamahalaan at effort ng ating kapulisan at iba pang law enforcement agencies pag na-dismiss ang kaso dahil sa teknikalidad,” Pascual said.
