Arroyo welcomes Chinese legislature vice chair
House Speaker Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo welcomed on Monday at the Philippine House of Representatives in Quezon City a ranking official of China’s legislature.
According to the office of Arroyo, a former President who is currently Pampanga 2nd District Representative in Congress, Ji Bingxuan, Vice Chairman of the National People’s Congress of the People’s Republic of China, made a courtesy call on her office.
Bingxuan, who was joined by other ranking members of China’s NPC, was briefly met by Arroyo, before being turned over to Deupty Speaker Arthur Yap for a meeting.
The Philippine and Chinese lawmakers discussed ways of further strengthening their two countries’ relations in the fields of agriculture, trade, infrastructure, education, and culture and the arts.
The Chinese delegates include Liao Xiaojun, NPC Standing Committee Member and Vice Chairman of the NPC Agriculture and Rural Committee; Cong Bin, NPC Standing Committee Member and Vice Chairman of the NPC Constitution and Law Committee; and, Lu Peijun, NPC Standing Committee Member and Vice Chairman of the NPC Foreign Affairs Committee.
Arroyo had just arrived from China where she attended the 4th China-ASEAN Mayors’ Forum over the weekend in Nanning City.
