House Speaker Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo urged Thursday the government’s economic managers to fast track the implementation of measures against the rising cost of commodities.

While she recognizes their efforts, Arroyo, an economist who was the country’s president from 2001 up to 2010, said, “sana naman ay mas mabilis ang pagkilos.”

She noted that one cause of the rising cost of food is insufficient production.

The seasoned politiko maintained that the Duterte administration’s comprehensive tax reform program remains necessary amid the soaring inflation rate because it will benefit the country in the long-term.
