Arroyo receives British envoy in Congress
House Speaker Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo received on Wednesday United Kingdom’s envoy to the Philippines during the latter’s courtesy call.
According to the office of Arroyo, British Ambassador Daniel Robert Pruce paid the former Philippine President and currently Pampanga 2nd District Representative a courtesy call to discuss the further strengthening of bilateral relations between the two countries.
“Mr. Pruce also told the Speaker of the continued interest of businessmen from the United Kingdom to invest in the Philippines,” a statement from Arroyo’s office said.
The official website of the embassy says Britain has major investments in the Philippines concentrated in power, energy, agribusiness, transport, water, and financial services.
It says the UK is one of the largest foreign investors in the Philippines, and that bilateral trade is worth around $2 billion annually, with the balance in the Philippines’ favor.
