Arroyo lauds Duterte for signing 10-year passport validity extension
Pampanga 2nd District Representative Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo has lauded President Rodrigo Duterte for signing into law the extension of passport validity from five to 10 years.
The Pampanga politiko said the new law enhances Filipinos’ constitutional right to travel.
“I am elated that extending the passport validity has been signed by President Rodrigo Duterte. Extending the passport validity from 5 to 10 years has been one of the first bills (House Bill No. 487) I filed at the start of the present Congress because I have always believed that the 5-year validity is too short considering the tedious process and the cost required to renew a passport,” Arroyo said.
Under RA 10928, regular passports for citizens who are at least 18 years old will have 10 years validity.
On the other hand, passports issued for those under 18 years old will only be valid for 5 years.#
