Aprub! Bishop backs Du30 on rejecting nuclear power
A senior Catholic Church official backed President Rodrigo Duterte on his position against the use of nuclear energy.
Balanga Bishop Ruperto Santos said this stand shows Duterte’s “concern and care” for the people and the environment.
“Now let us stop insisting on rehabilitation of the Bataan Nuclear Power Plant. The President has spoken, so be it,” Santos said (http://www.cbcpnews.com/cbcpnews/?p=86878).
He added most people in Bataan have strongly been against the revival of the mothballed power plant over safety concerns.
Besides, he said the plant could again become a source of graft of corruption.
In the meantime, he urged authorities to “study, plan and recourse to renewable sources of energy like solar, wind and water.”
