Apalit youth group sets up own community pantry
A youth group based in Apalit town in Pampanga province has set up its own community pantry, replicating the idea that has taken off in many other neighborhoods across the country.
Anak Kapampangan, a group of Pampanga-based working students, opened its community pantry located in Barangay Sulipan along MacArthur Highway on Monday, according to a Sun Star Pampanga report.
“My friends and I pooled our extra money to buy goods that we can share to the needy,” Anak Kapampangan president and Apalit Community Pantry prime mover Jed Yutuc was quoted as saying in the report.
“I also posted the idea on Facebook, which encouraged more friends to join the advocacy and share their blessings to others,” he said.
The Apalit pantry offers food items such as vegetables, eggs, biscuits, canned goods and noodles.
