Angeles to put up traffic signs in Kapampangan
Angeles City will be putting up traffic signs in the Kapampangan language beginning September, according to Angeles City Mayor Carmelo Lazatin Jr.
The mayor said this is in line with the city ordinance designating Kapampangan as an official language and institutionalizing its use in all sectors, along with English and Filipino.
“Bilang Angeleños, mumuna tamu dapat managuyod king kultura at salitang Kapampangan,” Lazatin said.
Angeles City Tourism Officer-in-Charge Anneleen Antonio-Sugui said once the Kapampangan signs were printed, they would be installed right away on major thoroughfares, such as McArthur Highway and the Filipino-American Friendship Circumferential Road.
“Mayor Lazatin is pushing for the safety of Kapampangan culture, but he also wants the safety of our other kababayan motorists and vehicles plying the area,” she said.
