Angeles pays tribute to health workers as modern-day heroes
The Angeles City government observed the country’s 123rd Independence Day on Saturday by honoring health workers and other front-liners as “modern-day heroes” in the fight against Covid-19.
“Sila na walang kapagurang ginagampanan ang kanilang tungkulin araw-araw para sa ating mga kababayan, sa kabila ng panganib na dala ng Covid-19,” Angeles City Mayor Carmelo Lazatin Jr. said during his speech.
The theme of the 2021 Independence Day observance was “Kalayaan 2021: Diwa sa Pagkakaisa at Paghilom ng Bayan.”
During the city government’s flag-raising and wreath-laying activity at the Museo ng Kasaysayang Panlipunan ng Pilipinas, the mayor lauded City Hall officials for “going above and beyond their call of duty in serving the Angelenos during the pandemic.”
Lazatin awarded plaques of recognition to the city and health officials to recognize their contributions in combating the spread of Covid-19.
