Act now! Roman urges institutions to spread awareness on HIV
Bataan Rep. Geraldine Roman expressed over the rising number of youth getting infected by HIV.
In a Facebook status, the politiko urged the public to give both young and old people infected with HIV the all-out support that they need–through love and necessary health care.
She believed that parents, schools and communities have a big role to play in spreading awareness about this health concern.
“We have to educate our youth on HIV 3,100 youth are reported to be infected with HIV from January to November of last year. How many more were and still are unreported?” Roman asked.
“The children are our country’s hope. It is saddening to note that among the different age brackets, it is those aged 15-24 who are mostly affected in terms of HIV infection. It is now being termed as an epidemic amongst the Filipino youth. We should not allow this to continue,” she added.
