Abucay allots P6.3M for relocation site of informal settlers
The Abucay Municipal Government has earmarked P6.3 million for the relocation site of more than 1,700 informal settlers under its comprehensive socialized housing development scheme.
Abucay Municipal Administrator Ernesto Vergara said Mayor Liberato Santiago, Jr and the Municipal Council are still assessing possible relocation sites for the displaced residents.
Vergara added that the relocation site must have available basic social services, schools, and accessible from the town proper.
Majority of the informal settlers are fisherfolk from six barangays along coastal areas.
Vergara said the the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) will provide the displaced residents skills training to augment their livelihood income.
