800 Aurora youth get temporary jobs under SPES program
Some 800 poor students and out-of-school youth are set to undergo the Special Program for Employment of Students (SPES) in Aurora province under the leadership of Governor Jerry Noveras and his son, Vice Governor Christian Noveras.
The beneficiaries selected from every town of Aurora will take part in the SPES Orientation and Basic Life Skills and Values Orientation in July and August, according to officials.
SPES is one of the government programs that help youth by providing temporary employment during vacation or between jobs for 20 days. The project is a collaboration of the Department of Labor and Employment and the provincial government.
Since January, the Aurora local government has started accepting walk-in applicants for the SPES program, officials said.
Applicants will undergo various stages of evaluation before being selected for the program. Each beneficiary will be employed for 20 days and receive a total of P9,451 in salary, of which 60 percent comes from the provincial government and the rest is covered by the DOLE.
