73-year-old US retiree is Zambales’ first Covid-19 case — health office
Zambales province recorded its first resident who tested positive for the coronavirus: a 73-year-old US citizen who’s retired from the US Navy, according to the Zambales Provincial Health Office.
The patient was confirmed by Zambales provincial health officer Noel Bueno to be positive of Covid-19 on Thursday.
Bueno said the patient is a US citizen and resident of Barangay San Gregorio, San Antonio, Zambales, with history of travel from Cavite to Manila.
An Inquirer report said the patient was a retiree of the US Navy.
“The patient returned to Zambales last March 15 and developed fever and diarrhea on March 16,” he said.
“The patient sought medical consultation at Our Lady of Lourdes International Medical Center in Olongapo City and was later referred to the President Ramon Magsaysay Provincial Hospital due to no vacancy at the said hospital at the time,” Bueno said.
“Samples were collected for testing. Result tested positive for Covid-19, today, March 26,” he added.
“He is currently stable and was advised to continue strict observation and monitoring at home,” he said.
Bueno said contact tracing is still ongoing while samples will be collected among those in close contact and had exposure with the patient.
