Some 600 poor but deserving San Fernando students have received their salary under the Special Program for Employment of Student (SPES), according to the Philippine Information Agency.
Each student received a total of P10,061.80 for work-from-home tasks under the livelihood assistance program of the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) and Provincial Public Employment Services Office (PESO), the PIA report said.
Such work-from-home tasks include encoding, tutoring, and gardening for 20 days, officials said.
PESO Head Luningning Vergara said her office made sure that the beneficiaries performed their tasks without having to go outside their homes.
Pampanga Governor Dennis Pineda assured the beneficiaries that the provincial government would help them until their graduation.
He also announced that SPES would be re-implemented as early as June this year, according to the report.
