5 Covid-19 patients from Tarlac transferred to Bataan hospital
At least five patients with mild to moderate case of coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) were transferred from the New Clark City quarantine facility in Tarlac to the Mariveles Mental Wellness General Hospital (MMWGH).
In a statement, Maria Lourdes Evangelista, chief of the hospital, confirmed the transfer of the patients to MMWGH since the hospitals in the region could no longer accommodate them with the rising number of suspected Covid-19 cases.
Evangelista said the hospital is directed by the Department of Health (DOH) as third on deck to receive patients under investigation (PUIs) from New Clark City as agreed upon by the Crisis Management Team of the health department.
She added it is in the mandate of the national hospitals, such as MMWGH, to accept and treat patients being transferred to them in order to help the citizens affected by Covid-19.
Evangelista assured that the medical personnel and staff of MMWGH has the sufficient skills and training for Covid-19 cases as a national hospital under the direct supervision of the DOH.
“May dedicated facility ang MMWGH para sa Covid-19 patients. Isang restricted area na hiwalay sa gusali ng MMWGH. Kahit na sila ay Covid mild cases, mahigpit po nating ipatutupad ang kanilang isolation at protocols (The MMWGH has a dedicated facility for Covid-19 patients.
It is a restricted area separate from the MMWGH building. Even though they are Covid mild cases, we are strictly implementing their isolation and protocols),” she said.
Meanwhile, Barangay chairman Francisco Delos Reyes, Jr. of Poblacion, Mariveles ordered the lockdown of the village effective 12: 01 a.m. of Friday upon learning of the presence of the patients from Mayor Jocelyn Castaneda and Municipal Health Office head Dr. Gerald Sebastian.
MMWGH is located at Monroe Street of the village.
But Delos Reyes said they were informed by hospital officials they have nothing to worry about the patients with mild to moderate Covid-19 who are in strict isolation and pose no danger to the community.
He also ordered the disinfection of the area while other preventive measures will be instituted. (PNA)
