4 Olongapo cops alleged ‘protectors’ of Subic shabu lab
Four policemen from an Olongapo City police anti-narcotics unit were arrested on Friday by the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) and the Philippine National Police (PNP) in a clandestine shabu laboratory at the Subic Bay Freeport Zone in Zambales.
The suspects were identified as Police Lt. Reynato Basa Jr., Police Corporal Gino dela Cruz, Police Corporal Edesyr Victor Alipio, Police Corporal Godfrey Duclayan Parentela, and Jericho Dabu.
The police officers were alleged to be the “protectors” of the clandestine shabu laboratory, according to investigators.
Seized from the suspects were 300 grams of shabu, five mobile phones, various drug paraphernalia, four Glock 17 9mm pistols; a Honda Civic, and bundles of boodle money with one genuine P1,000 bill on top.
PDEA said the suspects were nabbed at about 1 a.m. and will face charges of violation of the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
