29 nagka-COVID! Cheryl Deloso-Montalla slams DepEd Zambales over ‘superspreader’ face-to-face meeting

Zambales Rep. Cheryl Deloso-Montalla has expressed alarm on the seminar conducted by the Department of Education-Zambales in two beach resorts, which further spread COVID-19 in the province.
Deloso-Montalla said it is unfortunate that 29 principals and head teachers contracted COVID-19. They are now being attended to in President Ramon Magsaysay Memorial Hospital (PRMMH).
“Contact-tracing yielded an exponential increase in the CoViD-19 statistics in the Province of Zambales,” the lady solon said.
The seminar was held from March 1-6 and March 8-12.
“While it is the mandate of DepEd to ensure universal access to quality education during this most challenging time in the recent history of humanity, the conduct of a face-to-face seminar involving a crowd beyond what is permitted by the Inter-Agency Task Force on Emerging Infectious Diseases (IATF-EID) by DepEd Division of Zambales is totally uncalled for,” Deloso-Montalla added.
She said the matter has been referred to competent authorities for the determination of the propriety, soundness of judgment and accountability of DepEd Division of Zambales.
“I also urge DepEd Division of Zambales to do the appropriate thing – take the extra mile to assist all the school heads, teachers and their close contacts who fell victim to CoViD-19.”
The lady solon also urged everyone to follow the COVID-19 health protocol.
