Super Typhoon Karding destroyed P182 million worth of crops and infrastructure in Aurora province, according to the Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (PDRRMO).
Elson Egargue, PDRRMO chief, said in a Philippine News Agency report that the agricultural sector incurred some P130.28 million in damage while the infrastructure suffered some P52.25-million damage.
He said the damage to rice, corn, high-value crops and fisheries was reported by the Office of the Provincial Agriculturist based on information that came from eight municipalities.
In the PNA report, he said the most damaged commodity was rice, with the total amount reaching some P57, 885,667; followed by high-value crops amounting to P36,395,834; corn with P3,043,273, and fisheries with P32,960,000.
Egargue said the town of Dingalan recorded the highest loss in crops and fisheries amounting to P62,601,750; followed by Dipaculao, P41,438,718; San Luis, P10,430,098; Maria Aurora, P8,097,209; Baler, P4,063,919; Casiguran, P2,876,238; and Dilasag, P776,842.
“We are still waiting for additional report from the eight municipalities. So far, Dinalungan town is still in the process of monitoring and assessment if there are damages in agriculture,” he said.
