A farmer from Laur town in Nueva Ecija has gone viral after posting a heart-breaking video about his fears for his rice farm with the approach of Super Typhoon Karding.
“Hi, good morning, andito ako sa bukid ko, kinakabahan. May bagyo. Ewan kung anong mangyayari bukas, darating na mga araw,” the farmer says in the video shared by Nueva Ecija TV48 channel on its Facebook page.
The video was uploaded by Felix Pangibitan on Facebook, according to the local TV station.
“Sayang, ang ganda ng palay. Bindyo ko na kasi bukas, di ko alam kung mananatili ba itong nakatayo maghapon hanggang gabi, anong magiging lagay nito, anong itsura. E ganun talaga,” the farmer says in the video.
He added: “Pero sayang, ang hirap talagang maging farmer.”
“Pero may awa ang Diyos. Baka sakali lumihis ang bagyo sana, sana,” the farmer said, as he filmed himself amid rice paddies.
He even showed some of his fellow farmers who he said were praying with him for the typhoon to head elsewhere, saying: “Eto na ang mga kinakabahang kapwa ko farmer. Paparating ang bagyo.”
As of Sunday, the video had received hundreds of thousands of views, as it was cross-posted on other platforms like Twitter.
One Twitter user posted: “I’m crying my heart out watching this, a video from one of the hardworking farmers here in my province.”
