A total of 1,000 forest and fruit-bearing trees were planted at Mount Arayat during the nationwide simultaneous tree-planting event themed “Revive the Care of Nature.”
The activity was a collaboration with the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) and the Department of Agriculture (DA).
The provincial government of Pampanga took part in the nationwide tree-planting activity and kick-off ceremony of the Tree Planting Project of the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG).
The tree planting was held in Sitio Mayagas in Barangay San Juan Baño in Arayat town.
“Dito natin isinagawa ang tree-planting activity, una ay dahil kabilang ang San Juan Baño sa listahan ng identified areas ng DENR, kasama na rin dito ay dahil isa siya sa mga protected area ng Pampanga,” Lianne Abegail Muñoz, program manager of DILG Pampanga, said in a Sun Star Pampanga report.
“Napili rin natin ito, dahil very conducive siya for planting, at saka para mabuhay ‘yung mga itinanim nating halaman,” she was quoted as saying.
Arayat Vice Mayor Emmanuel Alejandrino was also present.
