114 NIA execs in Central Luzon undergo free diabetes screening

Some 114 staffers and officials of the National Irrigation Administration-Upper Pampanga River Integrated Irrigation System (NIA-UPRIIS) received free screening for diabetes with random blood sugar or fasting sugar test at the Farmers’ Training Center in Cabanatuan City.
According to NIA-UPRIIS department manager Rosalinda Bote, the activity form May 11 to 22 was part of the four-point agenda of NIA administrator Ricardo Visaya to develop healthy human resources “which also includes the promotion of health and well-being of employees aside from improving their skills and capabilities.”
The activity was administered by the two resident medical practitioners.
Spearheaded by Bote and administrative and finance division manager Milca Cayanga, the project was primarily for diabetes prevention and management.
“This year, the UPRIIS management targets to facilitate this activity on a monthly basis alongside with other medical services, and annual physical examination that is expected to start by the last week of May to monitor the health condition of the employees who are considered the best assets of the agency,” Bote said.
