Water tank collapses, kills 3 in San Jose del Monte

A water tank collapsed and exploded on Friday morning in San Jose del Monte (SJDM) City in Bulacan, killing 3 people and injuring 33 others.

According to SJDM director Superintendent Fitz Macariola, the tank containing 2000 cubic meters of water collapsed around3:30 a.m. in Barangay Muzon, and exploded when it hit the ground.

The explosion affected most of the village, with residents describing the incident as akin to a tsunami.

Investigators are looking into the cause of the collapse.

The city government of SJDM suspended today’s classes in all schools located in Barangay Luzon, in all levels both public and private.

It also advised residents within the vicity to avoid using their cell phones, lighting a cigarette or any activity that may cause fire.
