Wagi ang karibal! Duterte ends SBMA power struggle by replacing Martin Diño with his nemesis
President Rodrigo Duterte has finally put a stop to the leadership tug of war within the Subic Bay Metropolitan Authority by replacing Chairman Martin Diño with administrator Wilma Eisma.
Presidential spokesperson Ernesto Abella said Eisma took her oath of office as administrator and chairperson of SBMA before Senior Deputy Executive Secretary Menardo Gueverra around 11 a.m. Monday (September 25).
Malacañang earlier released Executive Order No. 42 combining the positions of SBMA chairperson and administrator.
Diño, who became a placeholder for Duterte during the campaign season for the 2016 elections, had been engaged in a feud with Eisma over the past few months on who should lead SBMA.
The tiff between Diño and Eisma started after the former issued an administrative order creating a task force to inspect and monitor SBMA’s business and financial operations.
The order reportedly encroached on Eisma’s responsibilities.
She said Diño, as chair of the SBMA board of directors, “has no power or authority to issue the administrative order, much less to create a task force that will directly involve itself in the operations and day-to-day activities of SBMA.”
