Science City of Munoz rolls out backyard vegetable farming

The Science City of Munoz has launched a backyard vegetable farming program.

Dubbed as the “Bakuran Ko, Gulayan Ko,” the program under the City Agriculture Office (CAO) is a barangay food production advocacy of the city using new and appropriate agricultural technology project, the local government said.

During the launching Wednesday, July 11, the principals from public and private schools, together with the Barangay Chairmen, took their oath and accepted the challenge to have a sustainable vegetable production using new technology especially container agriculture, it said.

It noted that the city, a rice producing locality has only a limited area for vegetable farming which is more or less 150 hectares , 1.7 percent of the total agriculture area.

“Bakuran vegetable farming is a source of fresh, organic and readily available plant produce,” the city government said.
