Sagot kay Digong! Arroyo files own BBL bill

Pampanga 2nd District Representative Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo has answered President Rodrigo Duterte’s call in his second State of the Nation Address (SONA) “to achieve just and lasting peace for a unified nation” by filing her own version of the Bangsamoro Basic Law (BBL).

The Pampanga politiko filed House Bill No. 6121 or the “Basic Act for the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region” that aims to replace the Autonomous Region of Muslim Mindanao (ARMM).

In her version of the BBL, Arroyo bats for the creation of the Bangsamoro Autonomouse Region (BAR) which shall be composed of the ARMM, Cotabato City, Isabela City, and “any province or city that are contiguous and outside the geographical area of the present ARMM” asking for inclusion in the new region.

The proposed measure hopes to reflect “the aspirations of our Muslim brothers and sisters as well as the indigenous brethren, representation to Indigenous Peoples, women, the sultanates, and other key stakeholders.”

“The National Government and the Bangsamoro Regional Government shall be guided by the principles of accepted norms of good governance and parity of esteem. In exercising its sovereignty, the National Government shall give due consideration to the distinctive historical and cultural heritage, economic and social structures of all the inhabitants in the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region,” she said.#
