PHLPost marks SBMA’s 25th anniversary with commemorative stamp
A commemorative stamp issued by the Philippine Postal Corp. will be one of the highlights of the Subic Bay Metropolitan Authority’s 25th anniversary.
SBMA and PHLPost partnered to design the stamp that marked the agency’s founding anniversary last Nov. 24.
PHLPost said 80,000 copies of the stamp and 4,000 copies of the souvenir sheet were printed. The commemorative stamp can be bought at P12 and the souvenir sheet at P100.
The commemorative stamp shows the Children of the Sun Returning Monument and the SBMA 25th Anniversary Logo.
“SBMA raised the standards in ports and free ports in the country…. Ports act as catalysts for development in a country. With this, I believe that SBMA is enabling this catalyst by pushing the Port of Subic to become the country’s major container terminal by providing free accreditation up to December 31 this year to all port-related businesses, as I have heard from the news,” PHLPost Director Liberty Avila said.
For the past 25 years, she added SBMA “played a big part in developing this military base into a place conducive to both leisure and business.”
“Subic has become a place for economic growth, as well as recreation. This balance in the community, in my opinion, is what keeps Subic going,” she said.
A commemorative frame was given to Sen. Richard Gordon, the first SBMA Chairman and former Olongapo City Mayor.
