Palace sees high rice production with irrigation project in Nueva Ecija
Malacanang said Tuesday that production of rice in Nueva Ecija could increase with the completion of an irrigation project in the province.
Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque said the Department of Agriculture has completed the Caridad Norte and Sur Solar Powered Irrigation System (SPIS).
“Mapapahusay na ang produksiyon ng bigas sa kanilang lugar,” he said in a news briefing.
He said 125 farmers from the villages of Caridad Norte and Caridad Sur in Llanera, Nueva Ecija are expected to benefit from the project.
The P7.2-million SPIS could irrigate 50 to 65 hectares of rainfed rice area and can continuously operate for six hours daily.
