NutriAsia workers in Bulacan go on strike
Workers in NutriAsia plant in Marilao, Bulacan launched a strike on Saturday, June 2, after more than 50 of them, including five union officials, were allegedly illegally dismissed from their job.
The strike was spearheaded by the Nagkakaisang Manggagawa ng NutriAsia (NMN), a union composed of over 500 workers, according to Alvin Lascano, vice president of NMN.
He said the removal of the workers was the management’s apparent reply on the union’s demand to regularize them, to give the right wages and benefits, and to recognize the union, among others.
“Tuluy tuloy din ang deployment ng mga pulis mula sa iba’t ibang munisipalidad ng Bulacan kahit pa nga iligal ang ganitong hakbangin dahil sa katangian ng kaso bilang isang labor dispute,” he said.
He claimed that the strikers were able to paralyze the production and distribution of the company.
NutriAsia is the manufacturer of Datu Puti vinegar and Mang Tomas all-around sarsa.
