Vice Mayor Bryan Matthew Nepomuceno of Angeles City, Pampanga is enjoining his compatriots to be the rays of sunshine to fellow Filipinos who are still suffering.
The politiko issued the call during the kick-off last Friday of the city’s Fiestang Kuliat amid the aftermath of a series of natural calamities in the region, including typhoon Ompong.
“This annual merriment aims to promote these Angeleno qualities not only to the residents of the city, but also to our neighboring towns and cities,” Nepomuceno said at the FK2018 launch, which carries the theme, “Pamagsaya, Pamagmasusi, Pamagdake.”
“Let us take this moment to illuminate hope and joy, especially to our fellow Filipinos who are still in the shadows of desolation,” he added.
Nepomuceno said the “jam-packed month of October marks our celebration of the Fiestang Kuliat which reflects our resilient, religious, and fun-loving identities as Angelenos.”
The key events lined up for the month are Fiestang Kuliat, Mutya ning Angeles and the Tigtigan Terakan Keng Dalan, which all started in 1992, a year after Mt. Pinatubo eruption.
Malacanang has already declared Oct. 16 and Oct. 26 as special non-working holidays in the city for the city’s festivities.
