Hero’s welcome for Kapampangan police official slain in Marawi
The remains of Inspector Edwin Placido, former deputy police chief of Marawi City, received a hero’s welcome at Camp Olivas in San Fernando, Pampanga on Wednesday, Nov. 8.
Placido was killed on May 25 on the third day of battle between the military Islamic State-inspired Maute group. He was among the first to sacrifice his life for the country.
Chief Superintendent Amador Corpus, Central Luzon police director, praised the Kapampangan police inspector for his bravery and the honor he brought to the regional police office, where he was a former member.
“Nakakalungkot isipin na isa sa ating mga kasama at kapatid sa serbisyo ay nasawi ngunit alam naman nating lahat na ang buhay nating mga pulis ay laging nasa panganib (It’s sad to think that our brothers in the service were killed but we know that our lives, as policemen, are always in danger),” Corpus said in a statement.
