Ex-Bulacan mayor Dellosa faces graft raps over P1.2M vehicle purchase
The Office of the Ombudsman has ordered the filing of graft charges against former Baliwag, Bulacan mayor Carolina Dellosa over her alleged involvement in the anomalous purchase of a vehicle worth P1.2 million back in 2013.
The Ombudsman gave the order after finding probable cause to indict her over the acquisition of a Mitsubishi utility vehicle from Freeway Motor Sales.
The case stemmed from the complaint filed by a certain Reynaldo Dela Cruz claimed that the purchase did not undergo the required public bidding.
The Ombudsman said Dellosa approved a Bids and Awards Committee (BAC) resolution which showed she favored picking Freeway in violation of the Government Procurement Reform Act.
“Her approval of BAC Resolution No. 15 despite the patent violation of R.A. No. 9184 and its IRR (Implementing Rules and Regulations) amounts to the giving of an unwarranted benefit, advantage or preference to Freeway as it was awarded the procurement contract without the benefit of a fair system in determining the best possible price for the government,” the Ombudsman ruled.
