Ejercito says housing projects in Bataan ‘like a dove’s house’

Nov 17, 2017 @ 1:59

Sen. JV Ejercito recently said that he “smells something” about the construction of 11 out of 18 socialized housing projects in Pandi town in Bulacan.

As chair of the Senate committee on housing, urban planning and resettlement, Ejercito said he found government housing units in Bulacan, Cavite, La Union and Rizal as too small, “like a dove’s house.”

He is planning to file charges against “some erring contractors and housing officials” who had possibly made money out of the projects.

The senator was puzzled why Pandi was chosen for the housing projects despite the town’s unpreparedness as a site.

“Bakit napakaliit na lugar ang pinaglagyan? Ano ba ang meron diyan?” said Ejercito.

Last April, members of left-wing urban poor group Kalipunan ng Damayang Mahihirap (Kadamay) occupied thousands of idle government-built houses in Pandi, which were originally given to military and police personnel.

Ejercito said he would call for a separate investigation to look into the previous administration’s housing program.
