DOH conducts evaluation of Tarlac City’s nutrition program
The Department of Health (DOH) Regional Office 3 has kicked off the annual monitoring and evaluation of Tarlac City government’s nutrition programs.
DOH 3-Regional Nutrition Evaluation Team (RNET) started Tuesday, June 5, the evaluation of the Local Level Plan Implementation (MELLPI) of the of the Philippine Plan of Action for Nutrition (PPAN).
“The evaluation assessed the effectiveness of the implementation of the LGU’s local nutrition programs,” the city government said.
It is conducted in randomly chosen barangays to check if indeed, nutrition programs are in place and that the families of underweight children are covered.
The barangays include Dela Paz, Sinait, Sepung Calzada, Maliwalo and Balingcanaway.
The factors to be studied are cases of underweight, stunting, wasting, overweight and obesity, iron deficiency anemia, vitamin A deficiency and iodine deficiency disorder, among others.
The City Health Office led by City Health Officer Dr. Carmela L. Go and the barangay nutrition teams assisted the inter-agency RNET.
