Jan 11, 2018 @ 10:27

The city of Balanga in Bataan province recorded a 30-percent increase in revenues in 2017.

In a statement, Mayor Francis Garcia said the city’s income from real property tax increased from P81 million in 2016 to P105 million in 2017.

According to Joselito Evangelista, city treasurer, revenues from business tax, among others rose by 15 percent. Tax collection in 2016 amounted to P96 million, while 2017’s collection reached P110 million.

The local government also managed to increase its collection of other fees and charges—from P26.8 million in 2016 to P31.5 million last year.

Garcia mentioned in his last State of the City Address that the local government will expand and strengthen its services to the public in 2018.

Last year, Balanga spent P70 million for infrastructure projects, which include constructions of roads, bridges, pathwalks, and flood control and drainage systems.

Garcia is thankful for the leaders of the local government’s various departments for their valuable contribution in Balanga’s impressive performance in the past year.
