Arroyo says dad would have rallied Pinoys to support Duterte
House Speaker Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo said Friday that his late father, former President Diosdado Macapagal, would have asked Filipinos to support President Rodrigo Duterte if he is still alive today.
In an interview in Lubao, Pampanga on the occasion of her father’s 108th birth anniversary, Arroyo said she and her sister, Cielo Macapagal-Salgado, agree that even from heaven where he is now, their father would also have the same message for the Filipinos.
“He would be telling the Filipinos today, ‘Let’s help our county. The President has been president (for) two years, let’s support him and give him a chance’,” said Arroyo, a former president herself who is currently Pampanga 2nd District Representative in Congress.
“Bigyan natin siya ng pagkakataon na masolusyunan yung mga sinisikap niyang masolusyunan,” added Arroyo.
Arroyo is a known ally of Duterte and has vowed to support the legislative agenda of the current administration while she leads the House of Representatives through next year.
Macapagal, who was the Philippine president from 1961 to 1965, passed away in April 1997.(END)
