Angeles City Mayor Pamintuan lauds veterinary office for anti-rabies campaign
Mayor Edgardo Pamintuan of Angeles City, Pampanga lauded the city government’s veterinary office for its anti-rabies campaign that recently merited an award from the national government.
According to a statement Monday from the city government, the Angeles City Veterinary Office, headed by Dr. Mario Samson, was recognized as one of the Best Local Government Units for Rabies Program Implementation this year.
The award was given by the Department of Agriculture-Bureau of Animal Industry.
“I appreciate the efforts and hard work of our City Veterinary Office, headed by Dr. Mario Samson,” Pamintuan said.
“90% of Angeles City’s dog and cat population in the city’s 33 barangays are already vaccinated through the regular conduct of free anti-rabies vaccination program every year in each barangay,” he added.
Pamintuan proudly disclosed that “not a single case of human death related to rabies has been noted in Angeles City since 2010.”
Samson said that while his office “has been zealous in doing its responsibilities, the award is unexpected.”
Aside from conducting free anti-rabies vaccination, the City Veterinary Office also holds information campaign and seminars in schools and homeowners groups on how to be responsible pet owners, radio plugging, free spaying and neutering for domesticated animals.
“We are thankful to the whole committee for recognizing all our efforts,” Samson said.(END)
